Application-led specialty lubrication solutions for demanding industrial environments across India
Compiled for Indian Industry by Project Sales Corp Industrial Solutions Since 2000 · Visakhapatnam · IndiaEngineering Approach
Industrial lubrication is rarely just a question of selecting a grease or oil. A bearing in a continuous caster faces a very different operating environment from a work-roll bearing, cement kiln girth gear, automotive actuator or textile stenter chain. Temperature is only one part of the problem. Load, speed, water, dust, vibration, chemical exposure, lubrication method and relubrication interval can all influence lubricant selection.
For more than 25 years, Project Sales Corp has worked with industrial maintenance and engineering teams in India on specialty lubrication applications. Today, PSC brings that application-led approach to LUBCHEM Korea specialty lubricants in India.

Lubricating Equipment Around Extreme Heat
These pages address lubrication points on equipment operating near or around extreme process heat — not lubrication of the process itself. Lubricant selection accounts for operating temperature, lubrication arrangement and the specific component.
Blast Furnace Area — Documented Lubrication Points
Lubchem's steel application guide identifies lubrication requirements for the following equipment areas. Product selection varies by operating temperature and lubrication arrangement.
The guide differentiates lubricant selection according to operating temperature and lubrication arrangement, including GM S Series, GH Series and HP-series products. Contact PSC for application-specific selection.

Application principle
The closer equipment gets to the process, the more important application-specific lubricant selection becomes.
PSC Application Check
Heat + Water + Slow Rotation
Lubchem describes the caster environment as involving slow rotation, high temperatures and corrosive process-water ingress. Its technical approach emphasises sealing, water resistance, surface affinity, wear protection and keeping abrasive contamination away from bearing contacts.
Continuous casting is not

and operating condition.
Different lubrication points can face different combinations of heat, water, speed, load and movement.
Lubrication Points — Source: Lubchem Korea Application Literature
| Equipment | Lubrication Point | LUBCHEM |
|---|---|---|
| General caster bearings | Rolling bearings — continuous casting equipment | HB 3101 P |
| Other caster points | Specific points including wet segments, extractor, run-out | Application review required — varies by point and system |
The newer Lubchem catalogue specifically identifies HB 3101 P for continuous casting equipment, conveyor rollers and high-temperature joints. Individual caster lubrication points should be reviewed against the installed lubrication system and operating conditions before lubricant selection.
Centralised lubrication matters
A technically suitable grease must also be capable of reaching the bearing reliably through the installed lubrication system. Pumpability is as important as performance at the bearing.

Water, Shock Loads and Higher Speeds
Hot rolling creates a different lubrication problem from continuous casting. Lubchem's steel guide notes the combination of high temperatures and process-water ingress, but with generally higher rotational speeds and shock loading. It emphasises surface separation, corrosion protection and sealing ability.

Higher Speed. Different Chemistry.
Cold rolling removes some of the thermal severity of hot rolling but introduces higher rotational speeds and chemically active rolling-mill emulsions. Lubchem's metallurgical guide highlights chemical resistance, sealing performance and careful base-oil / viscosity selection to control heat generation and premature lubricant degradation.
Cold Rolling Mill
Product selection for cold-rolling applications requires application review. Speed, emulsion chemistry and bearing arrangement all influence grade selection. Contact PSC with machine details.

Lubrication Where Movement Is Small but Conditions Are Severe
A kiln tyre and shell do not behave as one completely rigid assembly. Relative movement can occur as the kiln rotates and changes thermally. The lubrication requirement therefore differs substantially from conventional bearing or open-gear lubrication.
HM 9059 GM
Kiln Tyre / Internal Riding Ring
Relative movement occurs during rotation and thermal cycling. This lubrication interface requires a product selected specifically for this duty.
Do not substitute open-gear lubricant
The girth gear and riding ring are separate lubrication points. HM 9059 GM is the documented Lubchem product for the kiln tyre / riding ring application. Open-gear products (EO series) are for the girth gear only.

Carrying the Kiln
Support and thrust rollers operate under substantial mechanical loading. Lubchem's industrial application literature distinguishes between oil-lubricated and grease-lubricated bearing arrangements rather than prescribing one product universally. The correct product family depends on the actual arrangement.

Where the Lubchem textile application table gives an explicit grade, it appears here. Where it does not, PSC will conduct an application review. Populating a product code for every zone without verified documentation would undermine the technical credibility of this guide.
Application review is the answer, not a limitation
A correct application review will identify the right Lubchem product for each zone. An incorrect product code causes more problems than no product code.

Lubrication Around Water, Chemicals and Heat
Wet processing introduces a fundamentally different lubrication environment from spinning. Water, process chemicals and heat replace the speed-and-contamination challenge of the spinning zone.

High-Temperature Lubrication for Textile Finishing Equipment
Stenter chain lubrication is a specialist application within textile finishing. Lubchem's textile range includes dedicated chain lubricants for high-temperature textile finishing equipment. The exact grade should be selected against operating conditions rather than treated as interchangeable products.
Documented Stenter Chain Products — Source: Lubchem Textile Application Guide
| Product | Application |

The Equipment Around the Textile Machine Matters Too
Lubchem's textile material covers lubrication of electric motors and auxiliary equipment beyond the direct fibre-processing components. However, a product documented for a textile-machine motor should not automatically be assumed suitable for every motor bearing without reviewing speed, bearing size, temperature, grease fill, seal arrangement and relubrication practice.

Pumpability tested
Lubchem's compressor documentation includes Burckhardt Compression pumpability test results for HC 220 W, including tests at 164 rpm and 250 rpm (October 2017 documentation). This confirms that pumpability data is available — it does not by itself constitute a Burckhardt OEM approval.

Pumpability test results support technical evaluation. Final approval and use must be confirmed against the specific compressor OEM's requirements and current approval documentation.
Specialty Lubrication for Precision Motion
Robotics and precision automation represent a growing Indian market for specialty lubricants. Three engineering requirements — precision motion, low wear and long-life lubrication — drive product selection in this area.

When Speed Changes Everything
High-speed spindle lubricant selection must consider RPM / DN value, bearing type, preload, temperature, lubricant quantity, grease migration and required service life. Each factor can change the selection independently.

High-Speed Spindle Bearing
More grease is not necessarily better at high speed
Overfilling a high-speed spindle bearing causes heat generation, not better lubrication. Grease quantity is as important as grease chemistry at high DN values.

For Applications Beyond Conventional Lubricant Chemistry
Conventional mineral and synthetic lubricants are suitable for enormous numbers of applications. PFPE chemistry becomes relevant where requirements such as extreme temperature range, chemical resistance, long life or specific material compatibility justify it. PFPE should not be specified simply because an application is difficult.
PF 8092 MS
PFPE / PTFE Specialty Grease
NSF H1 food-grade use is applicable only where supported by the applicable documentation for the specific product lot. Verify with PSC before food-contact application.
Don't specify PFPE just because the application is difficult
PSC should first review whether the operating conditions actually require PFPE chemistry or whether a standard Lubchem grade is appropriate. The PFPE question begins with operating temperature, chemical environment, material compatibility and required service life.

"High Temperature" Is Not a Lubricant Specification
A customer saying "I need a 200°C grease" has given us only one piece of information. Temperature is the starting point — not the selection criterion.
What PSC still needs
Lubchem technologies encountered in this guide — high-temperature relevant
| Product / Family | Context |
|---|---|
| HB Series | Selected industrial / high-temperature bearing applications |

"High

specification.Same temperature.
Different machine.
Different lubricant.
Temperature is the start of the conversation
A bearing running at 160°C in a continuous caster presents a very different lubrication challenge from a bearing at the same temperature in a stenter frame or a kiln-riding-ring interface. Machine, speed, water exposure and lubrication method all change the selection.
