Built around the valve, service medium and operating condition — not around a product catalogue.
PSC selection logic narrows the Lubchem range using the operating problem first. Final product confirmation should always be made against the current Lubchem TDS and the valve/OEM requirements.
Reduce operating torque, protect internal surfaces and maintain valve operability.
Address leakage paths where a lubricant alone is not the intended function.
Remove deposits, gum, lacquer, corrosion or hardened lubricant before re-lubrication.
Account for sour gas, CO₂, water washout, low/high temperature and pressure-control duty.
| Product | Primary role | PSC application focus |
|---|---|---|
| Everlast 1 | Hydrocarbon-resistant valve lubricant | General ball, plug and gate valves in hydrocarbon liquid/gas service |
| Everlast 3 | High-temperature valve lubricant | Hot hydrocarbon valve service; intermittent temperatures to 550°F per Lubchem catalog |
| Everlast 7030 | Year-round synthetic valve lubricant | Pipeline, refinery, wellhead, compressor/pump stations, sour service |
| Everlast 960 | Low-temperature hydrocarbon valve lubricant | Ball/plug/gate valves; cold climate and H₂S/CO₂-inhibited service |
| Formasil 2525 | PTFE-enhanced valve sealant | Leak-path sealing in ball/gate/plug valves; same base formula family as 7030 |
| Valve Saver AW | Valve cleaner / lubricant | Hard-to-operate pipeline valves with deposits, gum, lacquer, rust or corrosion |
| Fractastic 611 / OS / HV | Frac valve lubricant/sealant family | Frac valves and pressure-control applications |
Technical properties summarized from Lubchem's published Product Guide and TDS library; verify current TDS before specification.
PRIMARY: EVERLAST 7030ALT: EVERLAST 1
Why: 7030 is published for ball, gate and plug valves, including pig launching/receiving valves and gas distribution systems. It is formulated for hydrocarbon service and sour service.
RESTORE: VALVE SAVER AWTHEN RE-LUBRICATE
Why: Valve Saver AW is intended to lubricate while emulsifying deposits common in pipeline operation. Lubchem instructs users to restore movement and then lubricate with the appropriate valve lubricant.
FORMASIL 2525
Why: PTFE particles are added to the 7030 base formula to improve sealing; Lubchem states sealing of leak passages up to 0.035 in / 900 μm.
Everlast 7030 is the broad PSC starting point where the published service conditions fit. Lubchem specifically identifies wellheads among its recommended applications.
Everlast 1 is published for aliphatic hydrocarbon liquids and gases, water, condensate, dilute acids and caustics, with H₂S inhibition.
Everlast 960 is designed for low-temperature pumpability and hydrocarbon resistance, with published H₂S/CO₂ inhibition.
Everlast 3 is Lubchem's high-temperature valve lubricant, published for plug, gate and ball valves in hydrocarbon gases.
Valve design and OEM • process medium • H₂S/CO₂ concentration • operating and ambient temperature • existing injected compound • leakage vs torque problem • injection equipment • previous failure mode.
EVERLAST 7030
Lubchem explicitly recommends 7030 for refineries as well as ball, gate and plug valves in hydrocarbon service. Its published range is −40 to 400°F.
EVERLAST 3
Published as a high-temperature lubricant for plug, gate and ball valves with intermittent service to 550°F.
VALVE SAVERVALVE SAVER AW
Use the cleaning/restoration route where hardened lubricants, lacquer, gum, rust or corrosion are preventing free movement; then re-lubricate.
| Application condition | Candidate | Published rationale |
|---|---|---|
| Frac valves / general pressure control | Fractastic 611 | High-tack synthetic lubricant/sealant; resistant to acids, caustics, friction reducers, polymers, hydrocarbons and co-solvents used in frac operations. |
| Gate & plug valves in frac service | Fractastic OS | Lubricant/sealant with washout/shear resistance and high metal adhesion. |
| High-viscosity frac valve requirement | Fractastic HV | High-viscosity grease with resistance to water and common frac-service chemicals; H₂S/CO₂ inhibited. |
| Observed condition | First technical question | PSC route |
|---|---|---|
| Valve torque increasing | Deposit/corrosion or lubricant failure? | Consider cleaner/restoration before changing lubricant. |
| Valve leaks through seal system | Is a sealant function required? | Review Formasil / pressure-activated sealant options against valve and service. |
| Lubricant washes out | Water/process-fluid exposure? | Select for washout resistance and process compatibility. |
| Cold injection difficult | Ambient/product temperature? | Review low-temperature or winter/arctic grades. |
| Hot service hardens compound | Actual valve temperature and duration? | Review high-temperature products such as Everlast 3 where applicable. |
| Sour service | H₂S / CO₂ level and OEM requirement? | Use only products with appropriate published inhibition/service statements. |
Do not cross-reference by product name alone. Cross-reference by function + valve + medium + temperature + service condition.
Manufacturer, model, valve type, size, pressure class and injection points.
Crude, gas, condensate, water, chemicals, H₂S, CO₂ and other contaminants.
Normal, minimum ambient, maximum operating and transient conditions.
Routine lubrication, high torque, leakage, washout, corrosion, deposits or emergency sealing.
Brand/product, quantity injected, frequency, observed performance and failure.
OEM maintenance instruction, plant standard, pump/equipment and safety restrictions.
Where a cross-reference is proposed, Product selection should document the evidence basis, identify any unresolved compatibility question, review the current TDS/SDS, and obtain site/OEM acceptance where required before full conversion.
PSC supports Lubchem USA products through application-based selection rather than simply quoting a grease or sealant from a catalogue.
